Community of Morogoro

Rosminian Novitiate House, P.O. Box 133, Morogoro

Morogoro is a city in southern Tanzania. It is located 190 km west of Dar es Salaam. It is very far from the other Rosminian communities, but it was chosen as the seat of the Novitiate because there are many missionary centers that share the training of their young women.
In particular, the young novices, after the first period of training in Muheza, go to Father Riccardo, a Franciscan, who built large schools in Morogoro. Some Junior nuns are also resident there to finish the basic school necessary for any diploma and specialization.

Generally, girls who begin their journey towards choosing a vocation enter with only elementary education.
In Morogoro there are two houses: one for novices and one for juniors with a shared room and chapel. This differentiation is necessary for the different path of initiation into religious life. The juniors have already expressed their first temporary vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
To support themselves at least a little and preserve their love for the land, they transformed all the corners of the novitiate; the very little land was transformed into a vegetable garden with spinach, cabbage, Chinese, peppers… and a chicken farm. These young people need to dig at least an hour a day to recreate. Fortunately they were able to build their own well with water which is therefore never lacking.
The formation manager for the charism is Sr. Marietha, novice mistress, completed weekly by Father Riccardo who gives the biblical or pastoral instruction.
