Anniversary of the death of Mother Mary Amherst
My dear Sisters
I have been thinking about Mother M Agnes these days and all that she left us after such a short life – only fifteen years as a Sister of Providence. Nevertheless, she inspired the growth and development of the apostolateof the Sistersin England and must have experienced many problems in nurturing the young congregation as it grew and expanded.
During this time of transition in the district of Our Lady of Sorrows and in the congregation as a whole, as well as in the Church of today, we too may experience many difficulties; it is not always easy to visualize the way forward and on a human level we become anxious about what lies ahead. Maybe, we can begin in a new way to extend our positive horizons in having a joyful and receptive heart, open to God and to one another; in this way drawing us closer together and making us appreciate what we are and have.
In speaking about love and suffering – the portion of those who identify with Our Lady of Sorrows, M M Agnes says: “…. so we have every reason to rejoice that the will of God is accomplished, whether it tries us in one way or another. We are his children, and he must be our Life, our Joy and our All. We must have no restrictions with him…”.
While thanking God for the gift of Mother M. Agnes, I wish each one of you a joyful andblessed day.
With love
Antonietta
