From the WORD of GOD
Christ set us free, so that we should remain free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be fastened again to the yoke of slavery. 4Once you seek to be reckoned as upright through the Law, then you have separated yourself from Christ, you have fallen away from grace.5 We are led by the Spirit to wait in the confident hope of saving justice through faith,6 since in Christ Jesus it is not being circumcised or being uncircumcised that can effect anything — only faith working through love. 13 After all, brothers, you were called to be free; do not use your freedom as an opening for self-indulgence, but be servants to one another in love. 16 Instead, I tell you, be guided by the Spirit, and you will no longer yield to self-indulgence.17 The desires of self-indulgence are always in opposition to the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are in opposition to self-indulgence: they are opposites, one against the other; that is how you are prevented from doing the things that you want to.18 But when you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. On the other hand the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness,23 gentleness and self-control; no law can touch such things as these.24 All who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with all its passions and its desires.25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let our behaviour be guided by the Spirit.(Gal 5:1.4-6.13. 16-18.23-25)

From the WRITINGS of Blessed A. ROSMINI
We can count to such an extent on the compassion of God our Father than we can expect him even to change our heart, and himself produce in us correspondence with his grace and the strength and courage we lack to make the great, general resolutions which we need. We do at least desire these things, don’t we? Well. although this desire is sterile, it is nevertheless the pledge given us by God of his longing to work in us the wonders of his mercy, because the very desire for good is his gift…The person who has great desires, who does what he can, and expects from his good Creator and Father what he cannot, lacks nothing. So take courage, have unlimited trust in God.
(EC Vol. VII, let. 4020, p. 360; to Don Paolo Barola in Rome, Stresa 29 April 1840)
We should live full of trust in the infinite mercy of the
good God. Let us set out with the intention of being
entirely his, remembering that this is only possible through
the almighty power of grace. Its glowing, untarnished light
is the cure for all our ills; it is our consolation in affliction,
and peace in our anxieties.
(EC Vol. V, let.2727, p. 579; to Vincenzo Bianchi at Domodossola,
Rovereto 19 February 1836)
I pray the Lord to strengthen you in such desires because
your eternal salvation depends upon them.
May he give you ever greater light to recognise the
infinite good we possess in loving and serving him alone,
even though we have to renounce every earthly thing.
Let us desire him alone as the reward of the inevitable
labours and sufferings of this life, through which his love
purifies and perfects us.
(EC Vol. XI, let. 6582, p. 26; to Don Giuseppe Saiani, at S. Michele,
Chiusa, 19 June 1850)
LET US PRAY
Lord God,
open our hearts to your grace .
Let it go before us and be with us ,
that we may always be intent upon doing your will.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
